A Letter to "Class of 2020" from the Editor

Dear Class of 2020,

It’s been quite a year! The world is experiencing a phenomenal change where a hug between lost friends could be either a show of affection or a medium for the spread of the Corona virus . I understand that this could have varying effects on each individual, and however you feel at this moment, I hope this letter makes you feel better.

The fact remains that this pandemic took the world by surprise, and nearly no one could have seen this coming. However, I would share some advice that experience and mentorship have taught me.

Please keep reading...

Firstly, as we await news regarding the National Examinations and West African Examinations, I urge you to stay calm, safe and remain studious. It is only a matter of time before the Federal Government figures a way to ensure that you complete the final phase of your National examinations.

Secondly, we know the school shutdown was unprecedented, and so your schooling has had to be completed in a virtual learning environment, and  your graduation ceremony postponed. You may be thinking of the day you would wear your gown and throw up your graduation cap in celebration. I anticipate this day with you too, and assure you that it will come soon.

Thirdly, remember that you are our future. Our future Programmers, Doctors, Engineers, Barristers, footballers, etc and we are confident that you will overcome whatever situation is thrown at you.

Finally I will say thank you. Thank you for studying hard in spite of the present difficulties. Thank you for being brave enough to sit for virtual classes and assessments. Thank you for holding on despite the postponement of your graduation day, and thank you for being brave enough to protect yourself and your community by staying indoors.

Congratulations class of 2020!
