Welcome to the month of February. Let's talk about STEM Week.
With the suspension of physical club meetings and sports in our school due to the pandemic, we look for more ways
to structure our activities that encourage appropriate physical distancing, and
students can still have fun learning.
One of these ways is our STEM Week. It is a 5-day celebration
of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Each day was dedicated to
an arm of STEM, with various activities while observing all COVID-19
guidelines.
The theme for our 2021 STEM Week was "Solving Life With Science".
All through the Autumn term, students worked individually on
various aspects of their projects. Each project was aimed at solving a problem
locally in Nigeria. Project materials were sourced from old cartons, plastics,
paper, and other recycled materials, with little or no room for new ones to
encourage a sustainable environment.
Some students focused on how Science can help agriculture in Nigeria with a Planter/Planting Machine.
Having done all these, STEM Week was the best place to demonstrate the functionality of these works.
One of the school lawns was converted into an exhibition ground,
for students to amaze us with their designs. Each participant was given an
opportunity to show how their project worked.

While there were some challenges with some projects during the demonstration, others went smoothly.
At CEDEC International Schools, we celebrate all demonstrations, including those that don't go as planned, as science is not always perfect.

Well done to the organisers and the children. The project works are all looking like "problem solvers". Happy STEM week.
ReplyDeleteWow! Brilliant ideas by the pupils and students it is indeed "easy" to solve life with science. Thank God for a successful STEM week.
ReplyDeleteBravo to our future scientists and engineers. Great job, beautiful outing.
