Let us have a conversation about the new facemask mandate from The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) which says that the outdoor use of face masks is no longer mandatory.
The Federal Government, on Wednesday, 30th March, 2022 said that the
wearing of face masks in public places is no longer compulsory as efforts are
being to ease up COVID-19 restrictions across the country (find out more here).
The Head of the Technical Secretariat, Presidential Steering Committee on
COVID-19, Dr Muktar Muhammed, who said this in Abuja, added that decision on
the final relaxation of COVID-19 measures would be taken after Easter.
However,
on Friday, the 1st of April, 2022, in an interview with News agency
of Nigeria (NAN), Ifedayo Adetifa, director-general of NCDC mentioned
that the use of face masks indoors and in other high-risk settings such as
public transport is still recommended.
As a school,
while we await feedback from the Ministry of Education, we will continue to
observe all COVID-19 precautionary measures including the wearing of appropriate
face coverings (Face shields for the Kindergarten, and face masks for all
members of the school community above 5 years old).
Please remember
that all children wearing facemasks are required to have at least two (2)
facemasks to school every day (one to be worn and another as a spare).
I thought the compulsory use of face mask has finally come to an end, anyways we will continue to abide by the COVID-19 guidelines untill we are told otherwise. Thanks for the update!
