The much-anticipated 3rd Biennial Interhouse Sports Event of the CEDEC International School - Lekki Campus held on the 22nd of February, 2024. This grand celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit brought together the entire CEDEC community for a day of fierce competition and camaraderie.
This year's event showcased the vibrant colours of Gold House, Diamond House, Emerald House, and Ruby House, each house filled with eager participants from the youngest Pre-K students to the seasoned seniors in Grade 12 geared up to compete in various disciplines, from traditional track and field events to the captivating Marchpast parade.
The standout performances of the day
came from the secondary school relay races, both male and female categories,
and the kindergarten egg race. The track thundered with the pounding footsteps
of determined athletes as they sprinted towards victory. The atmosphere was
electric, with cheers and applause echoing throughout the grounds.
One of the most unforgettable moments
of the day was the colourful marchpast parade, a visual feast that left an
indelible mark on everyone present. The rhythmic beats of the school band set
the pace as each house proudly marched in unison, showcasing not only their
athletic prowess but also their unity and discipline. The parade ended in
Emerald House clinching the victory, a testament to their impeccable
coordination and spirited performance.
The Taekwondo demonstration added an
extra layer of excitement to the event. Students showcased their martial arts
skills with precision and flair, leaving the audience in awe. The discipline,
focus, and dedication displayed during the demonstration embodied the values
instilled in CEDEC International Schools – fostering not only physical strength
but also mental resilience.
Amidst the fierce competitions and
breathtaking displays, special activities added a touch of warmth and laughter
to the day. The Mothers' Dance Competition brought a wave of joy as mothers
from each house showcased their dance moves, creating an atmosphere of pure
delight. The Fathers' 100 Metres Race added a dash of friendly competition,
proving that parents are not only pillars of support but also champions on the
track.
The winners of the 2024 Interhouse Sports competition was Gold House, closely followed by Emerald house in second place. Ruby house finally shed their 4th position from last year as they came in third, leaving Diamond House in the 4th position. Up Gold House!
Ceremonies throughout the day were
steeped in tradition and symbolism. The lighting of the school torch marked the
beginning of the event, symbolising the illumination of knowledge and the
spirit of competition.
A moment that truly resonated with
the essence of the event was the presentation of medals and awards. Medals were presented to all
participating athletes, acknowledging their hard work, dedication, and
sportsmanship. The sea of proud faces reflected the collective pride of the
CEDEC community, celebrating not just individual achievements but the
collaborative spirit that defines our school.
As the day drew to a close, the CEDEC
International Schools community left the sports grounds with hearts full of
pride and a renewed sense of unity. The 3rd Biennial Interhouse Sports Event
was more than a day of competition; it was a celebration of the values that
make CEDEC a unique and nurturing educational institution.
In conclusion, our Interhouse Sports
